Update from Kerry – SIS4ER number 1
In the Summer of 2021 I was lucky enough to be able to take early retirement from my 35 year teaching career. It was a big decision for me, but it felt like the right time.
I had a lovely, relaxing summer and went on a wonderful island-hopping adventure to the Outer Hebrides with my husband.
On my return home in September, I began a new working chapter in my life. I joined my sisters and the staff team at the distillery on a part-time basis, working 2 days per week. I am really enjoying my new work life balance. It was a great time to join the Sis4ers, as things at the Distillery were becoming really busy in the run up to Christmas. We launched our brilliant, new advent calendar for 2021 and this took a lot of coordinating to prepare and build them. Our clever Head Distiller – Callum, worked out an algorithm to ensure that our different gin selections were behind each of the calendar doors in an equal manner. It was great fun packaging them up and we had lots of laughs along the way, although we did have to suffer Callum’s extremely cheesy Christmas songs play list from mid-October right through to the end of December!
Our brilliant and loyal customers ensured that we had a busy and successful few months to close out 2021.
2022 has lots of things in the pipeline and our new still, Frederica, is regularly in action and performing well for us. She really is beautiful and we are very proud to own her!
For those of you lucky enough to be going abroad in the near future, we are excited to announce that you can now start your holiday off with a refreshing Four SIS4ERS Gin or two from the Seven Bro7hers Amber Alehouse located in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport.
We also have lots of exciting events booked for here at the distillery to coincide with the arrival (eventually!) of Spring and the lighter, brighter days and nights. We have a Charlotte Tilbury Masterclass coming up in March, as well as the return of our popular Bottomless Gin with Afternoon Tea events for Mother’s Day.
I love working at the Four SIS4ERS Distillery. Every day is different and working 2 days a week provides me with great flexibility and lots of time at home and long weekends away. My husband is also fortunate to be able to work part-time too. So, with our extra time, we recently were lucky enough to be able to welcome a new addition to our family – our gorgeous new puppy! She is a beautiful Airedale Terrier and we have named her Skye after our wonderful visit to the Isle of Skye on our Outer Hebrides Adventure. She is keeping us very busy and we love every minute of it!
I can’t wait to be part of the distillery’s growth journey and expansion during 2022 and I am excited to see all our plans come to fruition.
